Holidays for our Heroes Care-Pack Collection

Businesses, schools, churches, social organizations and families,

Hundreds of Siouxland Service Members will be separated from their families this Holiday Season as they serve all over the world. We are asking for the Siouxland Comunity to help us in sending our deployed Troops a “Taste of Home” for the Holidays. Please join us in collecting items like beef sticks, protein bars and drink mixes to be sent overseas! We also encourage kids to make Holiday cards and adults to write letters of support. Donations will also be accepted to help offset the cost of shipping the care-packages overseas. One care-package costs $17.35 to send and we plan to send over 200 care-packages! Honoring All Who Served May 23

Veterans and Military Families, Thank you for your service! Please join us for a Free event, Tuesday, May 23rd from 5:30-7:00 p.m.! Support Siouxland Soldiers will provide a box of groceries for each family as well as a free BBQ dinner. There will be a resource fair and other resources available. Come catch up with your comrades and enjoy a Free BBQ!

 

2017 Softball for Armed Services Tournament

Floyd Softball will host the 3rd Annual Softball for Armed Services Tournament Saturday, June 10 and Sunday June 11 at the Floyd Softball Fields at Chautauqua Park Sioux City, IA.  Teams from across the Midwest are invited to compete with 100% of the tournament proceeds being donated to Support Siouxland Soldiers, a non-profit organization that provides food, shelter, support and care-packages to our Siouxland Veterans, deployed Troops and Military families.

Saturday will include a special ceremony to honor our Siouxland Veterans with great food, music, raffles, prizes, kids games, bouncy houses, IZZON Photo Booth and more. The grill and concessions will also be available all weekend with specials and Military discounts.

2017 Cardinal Honor Run Becomes an Official Event of the Nebraska Sesquicentennial

The second annual Cardinal Honor Run, a 10k, 5k and Fun Run/Walk, will raise funds to provide food, shelter and support for Veterans and Military families of Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota. The Cardinal Honor Run is an official event of the Nebraska Sesquicentennial, celebrating the 150th anniversary of Nebraska’s statehood.

The event will kick-off the Cardinal Festival on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 7:30 a.m. This fundraising event, sponsored by Siouxland Federal Credit Union and Cardinal Days, will begin and end at Scenic Park, Riverview Dr. in South Sioux City, NE and will cross over the Missouri River on the Veterans Memorial Bridge into Sioux City.

The registration fee to participate is $30 and includes an official Cardinal Honor Run t-shirt. Youth ages 12 and under are free and may have the option to purchase an event t-shirt for $8.00. Individuals and teams are encouraged to register early at CardinalHonorRun.com

Packet pick-up will be available on Friday, June 9, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Siouxland Federal Credit Union, 3000 Plaza Dr. in South Sioux City, NE.

100% of the proceeds from this event will stay local and benefit Support Siouxland Soldiers, a non-profit organization that supports our local Veterans and Military families with care-packages, housing assistance and food assistance.

Do you have a deployed loved one and would like to send them some care-packages for Valentine’s Day? Join us Saturday, February 4 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. to send your Soldier some Love! We are collecting items from the Community to go in the care-packages such as beef jerky, protein bars, tuna pouches and powdered drink mix. Help us collect items by organizing a food drive at your place of business, church, school or right at home! 2017 Military Ladies Night!

Calling all Ladies of the Military! (That includes Women Veterans, Service Members, Wives, Moms and Adult Daughters!) Join us Thursday, January 12th 2017 for a 1st Class Fun Night Out with food, entertainment, prizes, pampering stations, painting & craft workshops, shopping, photo booth and more! Dinner will be served buffet style so you can come and go and eat when you please! Bring cash for shopping and the bar everything else is included in your $10 admission. Support Siouxland Soldiers is hosting our 10th Annual Holidays for our Heroes event! Siouxland Veterans and Military Families are invited to join us for an evening of Holiday Fun on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m at Liberty Elementary! This is a free event to honor and serve our Heroes and their families for their service and sacrifices! (Please provide proof of service upon arrival)
We are excited to Honor you!

 

– Support Siouxland Soldiers will be catering in a Holiday dinner with all the fixin’holidaysforheroes2016s and distributing holiday groceries;
– Santa and his crew will be distributing gifts and toys to all of the Military children in attendance;
– The Elks Club will hand out the remaining winter gear to the kids;
– Massages provided by Main Street Massage;
– Haircuts will be provided by Haircuts by Becky;
– The Micah Project will have gently used clothing and coats to give;
– Veteran Serving Agencies and Organizations will have booths to distribute resources and information – organized by Operation Engage America

 

If your Hero is currently deployed we hope that you will still join us! You are also welcome to pack a care-package for your service member on Sat. Nov. 19th from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at our office at 1551 Indian Hills Dr. Suite 102. Support Siouxland Soldiers will provide the snacks and hygiene items, the shipping materials and will pay to ship your box! All you need to bring is their address and special items that you would like to send eg. photos, cards, special snacks Please email siouxlandtroops@gmail.com if you plan to attend so that we can pick-up enough shipping supplies and snacks for the boxes.
