The Support Siouxland Soldiers 10th Annual Holidays for our Heroes event was held Thursday, December 14 at 6:00pm! The evening festivities included a live performance of Christmas music, a catered holiday meal, Gifts for all of the kids, coats, socks, gloves, hats and blankets, free haircuts, holiday groceries, a resource fair and more! Thank you to all of our partners, donors and over 100 volunteers who make this event possible! And Thank you To all of our Veterans and Military Families for your service, it is an honor to serve and celebrate you!
We had a great Waffles for Warriors event today! Everyone received a free breakfast of waffles, sausage, eggs, coffee, juice and milk and everyone left with a free pumpkin, a 10lbs. package of beef or chicken, Halloween chocolate and Girl Scout Cookies! Hundreds of Siouxland Service Members will be separated from their families this Holiday Season as they serve all over the world. We are asking for the Siouxland Comunity to help us in sending our deployed Troops a “Taste of Home” for the Holidays. Please join us in collecting items like beef sticks, protein bars and drink mixes to be sent overseas! We also encourage kids to make Holiday cards and adults to write letters of support. Donations will also be accepted to help offset the cost of shipping the care-packages overseas. One care-package costs $17.35 to send and we plan to send over 200 care-packages! Veterans and Military Families, Thank you for your service! Please join us for a Free event, Tuesday, May 23rd from 5:30-7:00 p.m.! Support Siouxland Soldiers will provide a box of groceries for each family as well as a free BBQ dinner. There will be a resource fair and other resources available. Come catch up with your comrades and enjoy a Free BBQ!
Floyd Softball will host the 3rd Annual Softball for Armed Services Tournament Saturday, June 10 and Sunday June 11 at the Floyd Softball Fields at Chautauqua Park Sioux City, IA. Teams from across the Midwest are invited to compete with 100% of the tournament proceeds being donated to Support Siouxland Soldiers, a non-profit organization that provides food, shelter, support and care-packages to our Siouxland Veterans, deployed Troops and Military families.
Saturday will include a special ceremony to honor our Siouxland Veterans with great food, music, raffles, prizes, kids games, bouncy houses, IZZON Photo Booth and more. The grill and concessions will also be available all weekend with specials and Military discounts.

The second annual Cardinal Honor Run, a 10k, 5k and Fun Run/Walk, will raise funds to provide food, shelter and support for Veterans and Military families of Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota. The Cardinal Honor Run is an official event of the Nebraska Sesquicentennial, celebrating the 150th anniversary of Nebraska’s statehood.
The event will kick-off the Cardinal Festival on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 7:30 a.m. This fundraising event, sponsored by Siouxland Federal Credit Union and Cardinal Days, will begin and end at Scenic Park, Riverview Dr. in South Sioux City, NE and will cross over the Missouri River on the Veterans Memorial Bridge into Sioux City.
The registration fee to participate is $30 and includes an official Cardinal Honor Run t-shirt. Youth ages 12 and under are free and may have the option to purchase an event t-shirt for $8.00. Individuals and teams are encouraged to register early at CardinalHonorRun.com
Packet pick-up will be available on Friday, June 9, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Siouxland Federal Credit Union, 3000 Plaza Dr. in South Sioux City, NE.
