Unity Christian School of Orange City helps prepare the new Food Pantry for the Veterans!

Twenty students along with their teacher, Mark Kauk, headed to Downtown Sioux City this morning with one mission in mind, to serve those who have served. Every year the Unity Christian Students participate in a Service Project to help the community and this year they chose Support Siouxland Soldiers! The students cleaned up and painted the interior of the new Food Pantry that will open it’s doors just in time for the food and toy distribution this Holiday season. HyVee brought in lunch for the students who were hard at work and by early afternoon the space looked brand new! Support Siouxland Soldiers is very grateful for all of their hard work and taking the time to travel to Sioux City to support our Siouxland Service Members, Veterans and Military Families! Thank you, Unity Christian School!

Honoring our Veterans and Troops in Remembrance of September 11th

In remembrance of September 11th, Support Siouxland Soldiers hosted two events to give back to those who have served and sacrificed for our Country. On Saturday, Sept. 8th, Support Siouxland Soldiers and the Foodbank of Siouxland teamed up to provide a week’s worth of nutritious food for our Siouxland Military families. Lilly Family Dentistry also gave away free Dental cleaning and check-ups.  Volunteers from New Life Lutheran Church, the Siouxland Volunteer Center, Lilly Family Dentistry, the Board of Support Siouxland Soldiers and the Siouxland community came out to thank those who have served to defend us. Then on Tuesday, September 11th, we sent  care-packages to the Siouxland Service Members serving abroad. Military families from the 185th Air Guard and the 1-113 CAV Army National Guard and volunteers from the Siouxland community came together at the 1-113 CAV National Guard Armory to pack and ship  over 50 care-packages. Snacks including beef sticks, protein bars and fruit snacks as well as hygiene items were included. Thank you to all of our Veterans, Service Members and Military Families who have sacrificed to defend this great Nation! It is an honor to serve and support you!
