Fast Food Chain Takes Quick Action to Support Local Troops – News, Weather and Sports for Sioux City, IA: KCAU-TV.com.

A restaurant chain is asking you to support our troops.

Wendy’s restaurants in Sioux City and South Sioux City are putting up collection sites for Support Siouxland Soldiers, who send care packages to troops deployed overseas.

And for one manager, there’s a person connection – his son is deployed to Afghanistan.

“Talking to my son, he just thinks it’s Christmas every time he gets a package. A lot of our family are sending packages directly to him. I mean you send him candy and he just goes nuts on it,” says Wendy’s Manager Patrick McKeever.

Patrick’s son is with the 113th Cavalry based in Sioux City.

The troops are in need of everything from beef jerky to batteries.

The packages go to all Siouxland soldiers, and the drive will continue until the soldiers come home.
